Ask any visitor to Nyaka - smiles are contagious!

Uganda's AIDS epidemic has resulted in 2.2 million children who have lost one or both parents, out of a population of just over 30 million. Due to a lack of government-subsidized education, extended families and orphanages face an enormous financial barrier to educating Uganda's children.

Nyaka is a haven of hope in a country ravaged by extreme poverty and disease. With 307 orphans attending two schools, Nyaka is helping to provide much needed services to AIDS orphans in rural, southwestern Uganda through the following initiatives:

The Nyaka School

The Kutamba School

Grannies (Mukaka) Project

Nutrition and Community Gardens Program

Health and Physical Education Program

The Blue Lupin Community Library

The Farm and Vocational Training Program

Community HIV/AIDS Education and Sensitization Programs

Clean Gravity-Fed Water System

Volunteer Program

Microfinance Project
