About the area
Nyaka AIDS Orphans School is located in the rural village of Nyakaghezi in southwestern Uganda. As you can see to the right, Nyakaghezi is so remote, it doesn't even make it onto a Google Map! Specifically, Nyaka is in Kanungu District (similar to our counties in the U.S.) and is close to a village called Kambuga.
Nyaka is close to the equator so the sun rises early (between 6 and 7 a.m.) and sets fairly early as well (between 6 and 7 p.m.) depending on the time of year. It is a tropical climate with three lush growing seasons and green hillsides everywhere. It is a hilly region and travel on the roads is an adventure in itself with bumpy dirt roads winding up and down hills and valleys.
Kutamba AIDS Orphans School is located in the rural village of Nyakashenyi about 40 km. from Nyaka. It is in the Rukungiri District, not far from the urban area of Rukungiri. Find it here on a Google Map
